Bushra Bibi Granted Family Visit After Three Months Under Strict No-Political Conditions
Islamabad — For the first time since November 4, 2025, former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s wife, Bushra Bibi, was allowed to meet her close family members, including her daughter and daughters-in-law.
The meeting came with a clear condition that it must not be used for any political purposes. Sources say the visit was facilitated through the efforts of Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif, who has previously been involved in back-channel efforts to provide humanitarian and legal assistance to Imran Khan and his wife.
The permission for the visit was reportedly granted after Bushra Bibi signaled her willingness to explore any possible avenues of easing her circumstances with the authorities. Imran Khan had also instructed Barrister Saif to use his contacts to promote understanding between the PTI leadership and the military.
During the meeting, strict compliance with the conditions was observed. Family members were explicitly instructed not to deliver or receive any political messages. Although no political discussions took place, sources indicate that Bushra Bibi expressed personal grievances, including disappointment over PTI’s perceived failure to effectively advocate for her and Imran Khan during their prolonged confinement.
Officials have emphasized that these complaints remained personal in nature and did not convey any political instructions. Observers view the visit as a limited humanitarian gesture rather than part of any broader political engagement.
Sources suggest that, if the set conditions continue to be respected, similar restricted family visits may be allowed for Bushra Bibi in the future. In contrast, there are currently no signs of any easing for Imran Khan himself. His last family meeting, which included his sister, had only been possible after persistent efforts by PTI leadership, particularly Barrister Gohar Ali Khan.
Authorities have reiterated that jail visits must not be used for political messaging, reflecting their heightened sensitivity to any communications during such privileges.
