CM Maryam Nawaz Takes Notice of Sanitation Worker’s Death in Arifwala Manhole Incident

Lahore — Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has taken notice of the tragic incident in Arifwala where a sanitation worker lost his life after falling into a manhole.
Expressing deep sorrow over the death caused by gas accumulation in the sewerage line, the chief minister extended her condolences and sympathy to the bereaved family. She directed the Deputy Commissioner of Pakpattan to submit an immediate report on the incident.
Maryam Nawaz also issued instructions to determine responsibility for the incident and to initiate legal action against those found negligent. She emphasized the need to ensure proper safety measures for sanitation workers before they are sent into manholes.
It is worth noting that in recent months, several incidents have been reported in Karachi and Lahore where citizens fell into open manholes, resulting in the loss of precious lives. The recurring incidents have raised serious concerns over public safety and negligence in maintaining sewerage infrastructure.
