NEPRA Approves Increase in Power Tariff Under December Fuel Price Adjustment

Islamabad — The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has approved an increase in electricity prices under the fuel price adjustment for December, making power costlier for consumers across the country.

According to a notification issued by NEPRA, electricity prices have been increased by Rs0.28 per unit. The additional charge will be collected from consumers in their February electricity bills.

The price hike will apply to electricity consumers nationwide, including K-Electric users. However, the increase will not be applicable to lifeline consumers and electric vehicle (EV) charging stations.

Earlier, the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) had requested NEPRA to allow an increase of Rs0.48 per unit under the monthly fuel price adjustment mechanism. After review, NEPRA approved a lower increase of Rs0.28 per unit.
