Bollywood Comedian Rajpal Yadav Arrested in Cheque Bounce Cases

**Islamabad (Qudrat Daily):** Renowned Bollywood comedian and actor **Rajpal Yadav** has been arrested and sent to **Tihar Jail** after the Delhi High Court rejected his plea seeking an extension of time in multiple cheque bounce cases.
Rajpal Yadav, widely known for his comic roles in the Indian film industry, has been part of numerous blockbuster films and earned praise for his energetic performances. His notable films include *Bhool Bhulaiyaa, Hungama, Dhol, Chup Chup Ke, Phir Hera Pheri,* and *Kal Ho Naa Ho*, among many others.
According to Indian media reports, the High Court on Wednesday dismissed Yadav’s request for additional time to appear before jail authorities. Following the court’s decision, the actor voluntarily presented himself before **Tihar Jail officials on Thursday** for arrest.
A jail source confirmed that Rajpal Yadav appeared before the authorities at around **4:00 pm**, after which standard legal procedures were initiated. Earlier, the court had directed him on February 2 to surrender by February 4. However, his lawyer had sought a one-week extension, informing the court that the actor had arranged **Rs 5 million** and needed more time to complete the payment. The request was rejected by Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma, who ruled that there were no grounds for granting further relief.
It is worth noting that in **April 2018**, an Indian court sentenced Rajpal Yadav to **six months in prison** along with a heavy fine for failing to repay a loan, although he was granted immediate bail at the time. Later, in **June 2024**, the High Court had temporarily suspended his sentence on the condition that he take “serious and genuine steps” toward an amicable settlement with the complainant.
According to reports, the case stems from a **Rs 50 million loan** taken by Rajpal Yadav from a businessman for film production purposes. Failure to repay the amount led the lender to initiate legal proceedings against the actor.
