Federal Constitutional Court Suspends Ali Hassan Zehri’s Victory Notification in PB-21 Hub, Orders Recount Review

Islamabad: The Federal Constitutional Court (FCC) has issued a significant ruling regarding the election results of Balochistan’s PB-21 Hub constituency. The court suspended the victory notification of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) candidate Ali Hassan Zehri and directed the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to re-examine pending requests for a recount.

The petition was filed by Sardar Saleh Bhutani, challenging the prior decisions of the ECP and Balochistan High Court. The FCC stated that previous orders issued by the ECP and the High Court did not fully comply with legal requirements.

The court instructed the ECP to review all requests for recounts at 39 polling stations in PB-21 Hub within two months, in accordance with previous Supreme Court rulings. The FCC clarified that if the recount requests are approved, the votes will be re-counted; if rejected, further proceedings will continue as per the law.

Until the final decision is reached, the court has ordered that Ali Hassan Zehri’s election victory notification remain suspended.
