Chinese Scientists Develop Safe Teeth-Whitening Powder Activated by Electric Toothbrush
**Islamabad (Qudrat):** Chinese scientists have developed a prototype of a teeth-whitening powder that activates with the vibrations of an electric toothbrush.
Researchers are optimistic that this innovation could lead to a new, effective, and easy-to-use home treatment that safely whitens teeth while maintaining oral health.
Stains on teeth are commonly caused by genetic factors, as well as consumption of foods and beverages like coffee or tomatoes. Even regular brushing can sometimes contribute to discoloration. Traditionally, chemical-based whiteners such as peroxide gels and mouthwashes used in dental clinics generate reactive oxygen species (ROS), which not only target stain-causing molecules but can also damage the enamel.
The newly designed powder, however, works with the electric toothbrush vibrations to whiten teeth safely, protecting enamel while removing stains, offering a promising alternative to harsh chemical treatments.
