68-Year-Old Chinese Man Marries His Son’s Ex-Fiancée After Breaking Off Their Engagement

Beijing, China – In a bizarre turn of events, Liu Liang, the former chairman of the Bank of China, has married his son’s ex-fiancée, after orchestrating the end of their engagement. Liu, 68, who has been married three times before, made headlines once again with his controversial decision to wed the woman who was once set to marry his son.
According to foreign media reports, Liu’s son had initially introduced his girlfriend to his father, sharing his plans to marry her. However, Liu, who became infatuated with the woman, began scheming to break up the couple and win her for himself.
Liu allegedly manipulated the situation by turning his son against the woman through false accusations and then arranging a match between his son and the daughter of one of his friends. He later wooed the young woman with expensive gifts and successfully persuaded her to marry him instead.
Six months after the engagement was broken, Liu’s son discovered the shocking truth—that his former fiancée had become his fourth stepmother. Devastated, the young man reportedly fell into severe depression.
This controversial marriage has drawn attention not only for its moral and familial implications but also because of Liu Liang’s involvement in corruption. In November of the previous year, Liu was sentenced to two years’ probation after being convicted of taking bribes worth $17 million and issuing over $450 million in illegal loans. His personal life, including the scandal with his son’s ex-fiancée, has only added to the public scrutiny surrounding him.
Despite the legal troubles, Liu’s personal decisions have sparked outrage and widespread media coverage, making him one of the most talked-about figures in China at the moment.
