Peshawar High Court Dismisses Contempt of Court Petition Against KP Chief Minister Sohail Afridi

Peshawar: The Peshawar High Court has dismissed a contempt of court petition filed against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi.

Chief Justice of the Peshawar High Court, SM Atiq Shah, heard the petition during the proceedings. Counsel for the petitioner argued that Chief Minister Sohail Afridi had obtained bail from the court and later misused it by delivering public speeches in cities including Islamabad, Lahore, and Karachi.

The petitioner’s lawyer contended that the chief minister violated court orders by using judicial relief to engage in political activities, thereby committing contempt of court.

However, the Additional Advocate General informed the court that Sohail Afridi is the duly elected chief minister of the province and that the contempt petition lacked legal grounds. He further argued that the petitioner was not an aggrieved party, rendering the petition non-maintainable.

After hearing the arguments, the court dismissed the contempt of court petition.
