Controversial Tweets Case: Court Sentences Iman Mazari and Hadi Ali to 10 Years in Prison Each

Islamabad: A district and sessions court in Islamabad has sentenced Iman Mazari and Hadi Ali to 10 years’ imprisonment each in the controversial tweets case.

Additional Sessions Judge Afzal Majoka announced the brief verdict in the courtroom, awarding separate sentences under multiple sections of the law. The court sentenced the accused to 10 years’ imprisonment under Section 10, five years under Section 9, and two years under Section 26-A.

The verdict was announced in the presence of Special Prosecutors Barrister Fahad and Rana Usman. However, no defense counsel representing Iman Mazari or Hadi Ali was present in the courtroom at the time of the decision.

The case pertained to the posting of controversial tweets, which the prosecution argued violated relevant legal provisions. Further legal options, including appeals, are expected to be explored following the announcement of the verdict.
