NDMA Issues Alert for Rain and Snowfall in Northern Areas

Islamabad: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued an alert in view of expected rainfall and snowfall in the northern regions of the country.
According to the NDMA, rain and snowfall are likely in northern areas from tomorrow until January 24, which may lead to rising water levels in streams and nullahs. The authority has also warned of a potential increase in water flow in the Kabul River and its adjoining tributaries due to the expected rains.
The alert states that districts including **Dir, Chitral, Swat, and Kohistan** may face flood-like situations, while low-lying areas of **Nowshera and Tarbela Dam** could be at risk due to a surge in the Kabul River’s flow.
The NDMA has directed provincial and district administrations to remain on **high alert** and ensure strict monitoring of vulnerable locations to effectively handle any emergency situation.
