Senate Passes Bill Amending Penal Code, Jail Terms Proposed for Black Magic and Its Promotion

**Islamabad:** The Senate has passed a bill to amend the Pakistan Penal Code, introducing stricter punishment against the practice and promotion of black magic.

Under the amendment, a new section **297-A** has been added to the Pakistan Penal Code, aimed at preventing and discouraging black magic and related activities. According to the bill, any person found practicing black magic or promoting it will face **imprisonment ranging from six months to seven years**, along with a **fine of up to Rs 1 million**.

The Senate also approved another bill related to the **federal curriculum and textbooks**. The legislation was presented by **Senator Ainee Mari**.

The passage of these bills reflects the upper house’s efforts to address social issues through legislative reforms and strengthen the legal framework in the country.
