Gas Supply to Balochistan Increased to 180 MMCFD Amid Severe Cold Weather

Quetta:The supply of gas to Balochistan has been significantly increased, with the volume raised from 80 MMCFD to 180 MMCFD to address shortages caused by severe cold weather.
According to a spokesperson for Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC), gas supply has returned to normal following the restoration of 30 MMCFD, resulting in a noticeable improvement in gas pressure. The spokesperson stated that gas supply had remained effective for the public until December; however, the situation changed in the second week of January due to an unexpected severe cold wave in Karachi and unusually harsh weather conditions in Balochistan.
In view of the increased demand, the gas supply to Balochistan was enhanced from 80 MMCFD to 180 MMCFD. The additional supply was made possible by curtailing gas to fertilizer plants and by shutting down industrial units using captive power on Sundays.
SSGC officials expressed hope that these measures would help stabilize gas supply and provide relief to consumers during the ongoing cold spell.
