Electricity Prices Likely to Rise Under Monthly Fuel Price Adjustment

Islamabad:Electricity prices are likely to increase under the monthly Fuel Price Adjustment (FPA) mechanism, as the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) has submitted its request for December’s adjustment to the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA).

According to the application, a total of 8.487 billion units of electricity were generated in December, while 8.208 billion units were supplied to distribution companies (DISCOs). The reported cost of electricity generation during the month stood at Rs 9.62 per unit.

NEPRA is scheduled to conduct a hearing on CPPA’s request on January 29. Following the hearing, the regulator will decide whether to approve the proposed adjustment, which could lead to an increase in electricity tariffs for consumers.
