PTCL Officially Takes Over Management of Telenor Pakistan in Landmark Telecom Deal

Islamabad: Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) has officially assumed management control of Telenor Pakistan after successfully completing the acquisition of 100 percent issued share capital of Telenor Pakistan and Orion Towers, marking a historic milestone in the growth of Pakistan’s telecom sector.
With this development, Telenor Pakistan and Orion Towers will operate as wholly owned subsidiaries of PTCL, joining Pak Telecom Mobile Limited (Ufone 4G) and U Microfinance Bank under the PTCL Group. During the interim period, Telenor Pakistan will continue to operate as a separate legal entity. Following the completion of all required regulatory approvals, PTML (Ufone 4G) and Telenor Pakistan are expected to be merged into a single integrated entity in the future.
PTCL acknowledged the significant contributions of Telenor ASA to the development of Pakistan’s telecom sector, noting that Telenor played a vital role for nearly two decades in raising service standards and expanding connectivity across the country. The transaction is expected to combine the strengths, resources, and expertise of both organizations, creating a customer-centric platform with broader reach and faster innovation.
Following the future integration of PTML (Ufone 4G) and Telenor Pakistan, the combined company will be well positioned to expand network capacity, optimize spectrum resources, and deliver secure, integrated, and digitally enabled services tailored to evolving consumer needs, in line with Pakistan’s digital ambitions.
Commenting on the occasion, President and CEO of PTCL and Ufone 4G, Hatem Bamatraf, said the acquisition marks a proud moment for PTCL and a major milestone for Pakistan’s telecom industry. He emphasized the company’s commitment to providing seamless, high-quality services and enhancing customer experience through shared capabilities after regulatory approvals are finalized.
He warmly welcomed Telenor Pakistan employees to the PTCL Group, assuring them that the transition will be guided by respect for people, continuity of talent, and adherence to industry best practices. “Together, we will build a stronger, future-ready organization capable of better serving our customers, empowering our people, and advancing Pakistan’s digital future,” he added.
With this strategic move, PTCL, Ufone 4G, and Telenor Pakistan are entering a new era focused on innovation and digital empowerment. The alliance is expected to strengthen Pakistan’s digital economy, expand access to advanced technologies, and connect millions more people nationwide, reinforcing PTCL’s commitment to driving digitalization across the country.
