Obstacle to Appointment of New Opposition Leader in National Assembly Removed

Islamabad: A major hurdle in the appointment of a new Opposition Leader in the National Assembly has been removed after Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) withdrew the court petition filed by former opposition leader Omar Ayub.
According to a private news channel, Speaker of the National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq will make an important announcement regarding the appointment of the new Opposition Leader during the National Assembly session scheduled for January 12.
Earlier, the Speaker was unable to proceed with the appointment due to the matter being sub judice. With the withdrawal of the petition, the legal obstacle has now been cleared.
The next session of the National Assembly will begin on January 12. National Assembly Advisor Muhammad Mushtaq stated that with the judicial front closed, there will be no hurdle in appointing the new Opposition Leader.
He further said that after returning from Bangladesh, an opposition delegation will meet Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq next week to move the process forward.
It is pertinent to note that PTI had earlier announced its decision to withdraw the case related to the removal of former MNA Omar Ayub from the position of Opposition Leader.
