Punjab Achieves Agricultural Milestone: Over 800,000 Farmers Receive Kisan Cards, Hundreds of Dealers Registered

Lahore – Under the vision of Pakistan Muslim League-N President Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and the efforts of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, an agricultural revolution is underway in the province. For the first time, Punjab’s farmers are gaining freedom from middlemen and traders, with more than 800,000 farmers now holding Kisan Cards.

In just one year, farmers have availed interest-free loans amounting to an unprecedented PKR 25 billion, setting a historic record in the country. The Chief Minister’s unique Kisan Card scheme has directly benefited small farmers across Punjab, allowing them to purchase fertilizers, seeds, and pesticides independently, bypassing traditional intermediaries.

Hundreds of dealers have registered under the Kisan Card scheme, fueling remarkable growth in the agricultural business sector. Around 20% of farmers used the Kisan Card to purchase diesel, avoiding credit and interest charges.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz stated, “Punjab’s farmers are the benefactors of the entire country. We cannot repay them enough for their hard work. All resources are available for our farmers, and our goal is to take agricultural development to its peak. Seeing Punjab’s farmers prosperous is my dream.”

This initiative has not only empowered farmers economically but also strengthened Punjab’s agricultural sector, marking a significant step toward sustainable rural development.
