PTA Makes SIM Registration in User’s Own Name Mandatory

Islamabad:The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has made it mandatory for all mobile SIMs to be registered in the name of their actual users. The authority has declared the use of any SIM registered in someone else’s name as illegal.
According to PTA, consumers must ensure that all SIMs and telecom connections they use are registered under their own names. The authority clarified that the registered user will bear full responsibility for any misuse of a SIM card.
PTA stated that users are personally accountable for calls, messages, and data usage made through their registered SIMs. It further emphasized that compliance with telecom regulations regarding calls, messaging, and data usage is mandatory.
The authority warned that in case of any violation of the rules, legal action may be taken against the registered SIM holder. PTA has advised consumers to immediately verify and regularize their SIM registrations to avoid any legal consequences.
