Federal Cabinet Approves Visa Clearance System on Interior Ministry’s Recommendation

**Islamabad (Qudrat Daily):**
The Federal Cabinet has approved several key decisions during an important meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, including the approval of a new visa clearance system on the recommendation of the Ministry of Interior.

According to official details, the cabinet approved an extension of the Off-Grid Power Plants Levy Act 2025, aimed at bringing greater discipline to the energy sector and making the policy framework for captive power plants more effective. Under this decision, the sale of gas to captive power plants through third parties will also be regulated to ensure transparency and improved monitoring of gas usage.

The cabinet also approved amendments to the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA) Ordinance 2002, with the objective of improving procurement procedures and strengthening regulatory oversight.

On the recommendation of the Ministry of Interior, the federal cabinet approved the visa clearance system, a move intended to make the visa process for Pakistani citizens traveling abroad more transparent, secure, and user-friendly. The initiative is expected to provide significant facilitation to Pakistanis facing visa-related issues.

In addition, the cabinet approved the repeal of the bill related to the National University for Security Sciences, Islamabad. It was also decided to establish a special committee to ensure effective consultation on private members’ bills and the legislative process in the National Assembly.

The cabinet further ratified the decisions taken in previous meetings of the Cabinet Committee for Legislative Cases as well as those made during the Economic Coordination Committee meeting held on December 18.

The meeting, held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, concluded with the approval of multiple policy and legislative measures aimed at improving governance, economic regulation, and public facilitation.
