Renowned Masjid an-Nabawi Muezzin Sheikh Faisal Passes Away; Emotional Final Adhan Goes Viral

Riyadh: The melodious and soul-stirring voice that called worshippers to prayer at Masjid an-Nabawi has fallen silent forever. Sheikh Faisal Nauman, a distinguished muezzin of the Prophet’s Mosque, has passed away, according to Arab media reports.
Sheikh Faisal had the honor of calling the adhan at Masjid an-Nabawi for more than 25 years and was formally appointed as a muezzin in the year 2000. For him, delivering the call to prayer was not merely a duty but a cherished family legacy. His grandfather and father also served as muezzins at Masjid an-Nabawi.
His father assumed this revered role at a young age and continued serving for more than 90 years. After him, the honor was passed on to Sheikh Faisal, who carried forward the family tradition with devotion and humility.

The funeral prayer for Sheikh Faisal was offered after Fajr, and he was laid to rest in Jannat al-Baqi, the historic cemetery in Madinah. Jannat al-Baqi is a sacred burial ground where members of the family of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) and many of his esteemed companions are buried.
The administration of Masjid an-Nabawi shared an emotional message along with Sheikh Faisal’s final adhan, which he delivered on November 2. That call to prayer has now become his last, deeply moving millions across the Muslim world.
The mosque administration said Sheikh Faisal’s voice had become an integral part of the spiritual atmosphere of Masjid an-Nabawi and would continue to echo in the hearts of worshippers.
Head of the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques, Sheikh Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-Sudais, expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Sheikh Faisal, praying for his forgiveness and elevated ranks in the hereafter. He said Sheikh Faisal devoted his life to raising the call of Allah from Masjid an-Nabawi, and this service would remain a source of ongoing reward (sadaqah jariyah) for him.
