Amena Urooj’s Bail Rejected in NCCIA Case Over Viral Inappropriate Video of Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar

Lahore: The District Court in Lahore has rejected bail for Amena Urooj in a National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) case related to the viral circulation of an inappropriate video of playwright Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar.
The court noted that Amena Urooj’s lawyer argued the case was filed with a delay of one year and three months and claimed that his client had no role in the matter. He also stated that the case was registered after a suspension of punishment.
However, the prosecutor contended that Amena Urooj played a key role in the making and dissemination of the video, while co-accused were named merely for facilitation purposes.
Based on the evidence on record, the court observed that the case filed under Section 497 is not bailable and consequently rejected Amena Urooj’s bail petition. The arguments were presented on behalf of the complainant by Advocate Chaudhry Mudassar.
