YouTuber Duckie Bhai Raises Serious Concerns Over Transparency at National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency

Karachi: Popular YouTuber Duckie Bhai has raised serious questions regarding the transparency and conduct of the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA), calling for the installation of audio and video cameras in all interrogation rooms to allow senior officials to monitor proceedings and prevent any potential injustice.

Speaking on a podcast, Duckie Bhai revealed that he and his friends faced inappropriate treatment during their detention, highlighting a significant lack of a transparent system within the agency.

Background of Arrest and Release:
Duckie Bhai, one of Pakistan’s most-followed solo YouTubers, who is on the verge of reaching 10 million subscribers, was allegedly arrested in August for promoting betting apps. He was released on bail approximately three months later and has since resumed posting daily vlogs on YouTube.

Friends’ Assistance and Challenges:
During the podcast, Duckie Bhai explained that several friends stepped forward to help following his arrest but faced difficulties. He mentioned that Maiz Bhai tried assisting the family and even visited the NCCIA office, where Arub was summoned, and his mobile phone was confiscated for investigation, prompting Maiz Bhai to withdraw due to witnessing unfair treatment.

He further revealed that Nadeem Naniwala also attempted to help by visiting the NCCIA office, where his driver’s attempt to record a video led to a staff member confiscating the phone. Nadeem Naniwala was taken into a separate room with lawyers, and an investigation began against him without any FIR, even though he had only come for a meeting. Duckie Bhai stated that Nadeem narrowly avoided serious legal consequences.

Duckie Bhai also shared that Arib Pervez, husband of Iqra Kanwal, tried to assist despite personal and family commitments. Arib reportedly contacted influential individuals to help, but unknown parties allegedly deceived him, taking an iPhone and claiming to assist in Duckie Bhai’s release.

Lack of Cameras at NCCIA:
Highlighting the lack of transparency at NCCIA, Duckie Bhai questioned why CCTV cameras were not installed in interrogation offices, the deputy director’s room, the kitchen, and the forensic lab. He stressed that this absence creates doubts about the agency’s accountability.

Demand for Accountability and Transparency:
Duckie Bhai demanded that audio and video surveillance be installed in all interrogation rooms so senior officials can monitor activities and ensure fairness. He added that if ordinary households can have surveillance cameras, it is even more crucial to guarantee transparency in investigative agencies.
