Punjab Government Expands Facilities Under “Apni Chhat Apna Ghar” Program for Interest-Free Loan Beneficiaries

The Punjab government has announced additional facilities for beneficiaries of interest-free loans under the “Apni Chhat Apna Ghar” program. The move aims to provide greater ease in loan repayment and support for vulnerable individuals.
According to Express News, a high-level meeting was held under the leadership of DG PHATA Sikandar Zeeshan, with participation from the Secretary of Housing, PD “Apni Chhat Apna Ghar” Mirza Waleed Baig, and other relevant officials. Representatives from Akhuwat, NSRP, and other microfinance institutions presented practical proposals, and DG Sikandar Zeeshan instructed that SOPs for implementing the new concessions be finalized promptly.
Under the revised plan, beneficiaries who repay their interest-free loans early will be eligible for up to a 20% rebate. Additionally, loans will be waived in case of death during the loan period, and concessions will also apply if the beneficiary becomes disabled.
DG PHATA Sikandar Zeeshan stated that, following the directives of Chief Minister Punjab, planning is underway to further simplify the loan repayment process. The rebate will be applicable to the repayment of a 10-year loan within 3 to 6 years.
It is worth noting that under the “Apni Chhat Apna Ghar” program, interest-free loans of up to PKR 1.5 million are provided for a 10-year term. DG PHATA added that the finalized SOPs will soon be presented to Provincial Minister Bilal Yaseen and the Secretary of Housing. The purpose of these concessions is to make repayment easier for beneficiaries, while early repayment will allow additional funds to be used to assist more citizens in building homes.
