Bad News for Inflation-Hit Public: Sharp Increase in Broiler Chicken and Egg Prices

**Islamabad:** The continuous rise in the prices of broiler chicken and eggs across the country has further added to the burden of inflation on the general public, making it increasingly difficult for citizens to meet their daily food needs.

According to the latest figures, the price of broiler meat has increased by Rs22 per kilogram in just one day, pushing the rate up to Rs519 per kg. This sudden surge has caused serious concern among consumers.

Data shows that from Monday to Wednesday, broiler meat prices have increased by a total of Rs44 per kg. Rates of live broiler chicken have also reached high levels, with farm rates recorded at Rs330 per kg, wholesale rates at Rs344 per kg, and retail prices at Rs358 per kg. The persistent increase has disrupted household budgets and forced citizens to look for alternative food options.

Meanwhile, prices of farm eggs have also gone up. In recent days, the price of eggs has increased by Rs2 per dozen, bringing the rate to Rs361 per dozen. Eggs, once considered an affordable source of nutrition, are now also moving beyond the reach of the common man.

According to the Poultry Association, the recent increase in chicken and egg prices is due to rising demand and higher production costs. The association stated that increased expenses on feed, transportation, and other inputs have directly impacted prices, with the burden ultimately shifting to consumers.

Citizens say that the continuous rise in inflation has severely affected their purchasing power. They complain that essential food items are becoming increasingly expensive, making it difficult to manage household expenses. Many fear that if the government does not take immediate measures, prices may rise further, leading to even greater hardship for consumers.
