Federal Minister Talal Chaudhry Alleges Fake Social Media Accounts Spreading Anti-State Content

Islamabad: Federal Minister for Interior Talal Chaudhry has claimed that fake social media accounts are being used to post content against the state. Speaking at a press conference in Islamabad, he stated that many of these accounts are operated from abroad and that financial incentives are provided for every tweet and trending topic.

Chaudhry emphasized that freedom of expression must be exercised within the bounds of the Constitution and law, accusing the PTI of running a coordinated propaganda campaign on social media. He added that the majority of these accounts are registered under false names and are not based in Pakistan, with all evidence traced back through social media platforms.

The minister further alleged that these fake accounts are being used to support banned organizations like the BLA and TTP, drawing parallels between the fight against terrorism and the ongoing challenge of monitoring disinformation online. He stated that Pakistani authorities are actively tracking and reporting these fraudulent accounts to curb their impact.
