PTI Founder Strongly Condemns Plans to Amend Party Constitution and Hold Another Intra-Party Poll

Lahore: PTI founder Akbar S. Babar has strongly reacted to the party’s announced plans to amend its constitution and conduct another intra-party election, calling the move unacceptable.

In a statement shared via social media, he said that the attempt to undermine the fundamental constitutional rights of PTI workers is “unjustifiable.” He questioned how the faction controlling PTI, which has failed to uphold the party’s own constitution, could protect the country’s constitution and laws.

Babar highlighted that the controlling group has repeatedly held fake intra-party elections, causing severe political and legal damage to PTI. He noted that the intra-party poll held on December 2, 2023, inflicted irreparable legal and political losses ahead of the February 8, 2024, elections.

He further stated that another fake intra-party election was conducted on March 3, 2024, which he and other party members have been challenging since March 5, 2024. He accused the controlling faction of using “state interference” to prevent the Election Commission of Pakistan from delivering a verdict through the Lahore High Court for over a year.

Babar asserted that the faction’s intention to amend PTI’s constitution and hold another intra-party poll confirms that the March 3, 2024, election was also fake and illegal.
