MQM Lawmaker Requests Prayer for Moin Khan After Falling for Fake Death News

Karachi: An unusual moment unfolded in the Sindh Assembly when an MQM-P lawmaker requested prayers for the forgiveness of former cricketer Moin Khan—after mistakenly believing social media reports falsely claiming his death.

During the assembly session, MQM-P member Sabir Qaimkhani asked the House to offer prayers for Moin Khan’s soul. However, members present in the chamber immediately interrupted him, informing him that the cricketer’s death news circulating online was fake.

The Speaker also clarified the misinformation, after which Qaimkhani stood up and apologized for the misunderstanding.

In recent days, false reports about the death of the 54-year-old former Pakistan captain had been widely shared on social media. Responding to the rumours, Moin Khan himself issued a statement confirming that he was perfectly fine.

In reality, it was 65-year-old senior cricketer Moin Khan Rajput from Hyderabad who had passed away, but social media users mistakenly shared the picture of Test cricketer Moin Khan, leading to widespread confusion.
