Indian Army Tank Sinks During Canal Crossing Drill in Rajasthan; 1 Soldier Killed, 2 Injured

Islamabad (Qudrat Daily) — A tragic incident occurred in Rajasthan, India, when an army tank sank while practicing a canal crossing drill designed for emergency preparedness.

According to Indian media, two soldiers managed to escape from the tank, but one of their comrades remained trapped. Despite multiple efforts, the trapped soldier could not be rescued in time and drowned.

Police, rescue teams, and civil defense forces arrived late at the scene, causing the soldier’s body to drift a considerable distance in the canal. After several hours of persistent efforts, rescue teams recovered the soldier’s body far from the accident site.

This is not the first such incident in India. In June 2024, five soldiers drowned when a tank sank while crossing a river in Ladakh. In October 2022, another tank exploded during a firing drill, killing two soldiers and critically injuring one.

These recurring incidents highlight ongoing concerns regarding safety protocols and professional training during military exercises in India.
