FC Camp Attack in Nokundi Thwarted; Four Militants Killed in Security Forces’ Response

Quetta: A major terrorist attack on the Frontier Corps’ main camp in Nokundi, located in Chagai district of Balochistan, was successfully repelled on Sunday night, according to security sources. The assault, carried out around 8:30 pm, triggered panic in the area as heavy gunfire and explosions echoed for hours.

Initial reports suggest that four militants were involved in the attack. One assailant detonated himself at the camp’s main gate in a powerful explosion, while the remaining attackers were killed during a swift and effective response by security forces. However, these details have not been independently verified.

Speaking to the media, SSP Chagai Mohammad Sharif confirmed that a full-scale clearance operation is underway inside the camp. He stated that security personnel are thoroughly examining the area with utmost caution.

A local Nokundi administration official said that a loud explosion was first heard near the main gate, followed by intense firing that lasted between 90 minutes to two hours. He added that several smaller blasts — approximately seven to eight — were also heard intermittently.

The official further noted that no information has yet been released regarding potential damage or casualties among security forces. However, preliminary assessments indicate that multiple attackers were neutralized during the engagement.

Security across the region has been further tightened, and authorities are closely monitoring the situation.
