Noor Zaman Clinches Chief of the Air Staff International Squash Championship Title

Karachi: Pakistan’s Noor Zaman secured the Chief of the Air Staff International Squash Championship after a thrilling and hard-fought final against Hamza Khan.

The championship, carrying a prize purse of USD 37,000, concluded at the Mushaf Squash Complex in Islamabad. World No. 42 and second seed Noor Zaman, who is also the reigning World Under-23 Champion, defeated tenth seed Hamza Khan 3–2 to claim the prestigious title.

According to reports, Hamza Khan made a strong start by winning the first game 9–11 and continued his momentum with another 7–11 win in the second game. However, Noor Zaman, grandson of former world champion Qamar Zaman, staged an impressive comeback to win the next three games.

He claimed the third game 7–11, dominated the fourth 4–11, and sealed victory in the decisive fifth game 8–11.

Hamza Khan had earlier caused major upsets in the tournament, defeating top seed Egyptian player Karim Al-Hammami in the quarterfinals before overcoming sixth seed David Bernet of Sweden in the semifinals.

Noor Zaman’s remarkable resilience and skill ensured his triumph, adding another significant title to Pakistan’s squash legacy.
