Case Registered Against Imam for Reciting Durood Before Azan; Gujranwala Bar Association Announces Strike

Toba Tek Singh/Gujra:** A case has been filed against an imam in Gujra for violating the Loudspeaker Act by reciting Durood on a loudspeaker before the call to prayer (Azan).
According to the complaint registered at City Police Station Gujra, police officers were patrolling in an official vehicle near Hafeez Park, Gujra, when they observed the imam of Jamia Masjid Ghausia Rizvia, Asif Mahmood Mustafa, playing Durood on a loudspeaker before the Azan. When the police arrived, the imam locked the main gate of the mosque and fled. A case has been registered against him under the Sound System Act.
The incident has sparked strong reactions. Religious leaders have condemned the police action, while the Gujra Bar Association announced a strike in protest. Additionally, a petition has been filed against the concerned DSP and the police officer who filed the case.
