Nawaz Sharif Criticizes Previous Government, Credits N League for Recent Electoral Success

Lahore — Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President and former Prime Minister **Nawaz Sharif** has sharply criticized the country’s condition during the previous government, saying that after PML-N’s exit, the nation faced “widespread destruction” and was brought to the brink of collapse. He held the 2018–2022 administration responsible for the turmoil.

Addressing newly elected members of the National Assembly, Nawaz Sharif stated that recent by-elections reflected the people’s endorsement of governance and performance, while hatred, chaos, and divisive forces were defeated at the polls. He congratulated **Shahbaz Sharif** and **Maryam Nawaz** on the party’s electoral success.

Nawaz Sharif said that under the previous government, foreign policy failed, merit was ignored, and development projects stalled, leaving Pakistan nearly bankrupt. He added that the PML-N government has since worked tirelessly to restore stability, reduce inflation, and safeguard the nation from moral and social decay.

Criticizing PTI founder **Imran Khan**, Nawaz Sharif said he was not solely responsible for the previous turmoil, accusing those who promoted him of being equally culpable. He highlighted the efforts of the Punjab government in providing 120,000 homes for the poor, free healthcare, new hospitals, green bus services, and improved law and order.

He also noted that while opponents boycotted previous elections, they later participated and lost, emphasizing that meritocracy has been restored and government departments are now functioning efficiently.
