ATC Sibi Sentences Killer of SP Mir Khalid Zaman Mari to Death

Sibi (Daily Qudrat) – The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) of Sibi Division has delivered a landmark verdict in the high-profile case of the late SP Mir Khalid Zaman Mari. The accused, Ilahi Bakhsh, son of Ghulam Muhammad, from the Mari tribe of Jaffarabad, was sentenced to death after a trial lasting one year and five months.
The court convicted Ilahi Bakhsh under Section 7 ATA and Section 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code and ordered him to pay Diya (compensation) of PKR 1 million to the heirs of the deceased. In case of non-payment, the court ruled that the convict would serve an additional six months in prison.
Advocate Chaudhry Anwar-ul-Haq represented the family of the slain SP Mir Khalid Zaman Mari, while Special Public Prosecutor Mir Murad Bakhsh Mari pursued the case on behalf of the state.
Additionally, the court sentenced the convict to seven years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of PKR 100,000 for the illegal use of a Kalashnikov. For the recovery of two pistols from the accused, he received an additional three years of rigorous imprisonment and a PKR 50,000 fine, with an extra three months of imprisonment in case of non-payment.
This verdict marks a significant step in the pursuit of justice for the murder of SP Mir Khalid Zaman Mari.
