OGRA Clarifies: No Approval Given for Any Gas Price Hike

Islamabad: The **Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA)** has clarified that **no approval has been granted for any increase in gas prices** for the current fiscal year.
According to OGRA’s spokesperson, recent reports suggesting a **7.14% rise in average gas prices** were misleading. The spokesperson explained that **revenue requirements for FY 2025-26 are being met through existing networks of SNGPL and SSGC**, and therefore, there was no need to alter gas prices.
Earlier media reports had claimed that OGRA had approved new gas prices of **Rs1,852.80 per MMBTU for Sui Northern** and **Rs1,777.02 per MMBTU for Sui Southern**, implying an increase. OGRA officials, however, confirmed that these figures **do not reflect any increase**, and no price changes have been implemented.
The authority had previously announced an **average 8% reduction in gas prices**, but the recent clarification emphasizes that **gas prices for the current financial year remain unchanged**.
