Defence Minister Khawaja Asif Claims *The Economist* Report on Bushra Bibi and Gen. Faiz Is Accurate

Islamabad:Defence Minister **Khawaja Asif** has endorsed the findings of a recent report by *The Economist*, saying that **Bushra Bibi was working for former intelligence chief Lt Gen (retd) Faiz Hameed**.
Speaking to Geo News, Asif alleged that information provided by Bushra Bibi would “prove correct within days,” asserting that the founder of PTI was “completely under the control of Gen Faiz and Gen Bajwa.” He said that Pakistan had been subjected to a “serious deception,” claiming that “a woman was launched for the sake of power.”
The defence minister accused the previous PTI government of orchestrating a “planned loot and plunder” over four to five years. He further claimed that decisions against Nawaz Sharif in the Supreme Court were “strategically engineered,” and that money allegedly looted during the PTI government was partly given to the PTI founder while the rest was “sent abroad.”
Khawaja Asif also criticized the PTI founder despite his Oxford education, remarking that it was “regrettable” to hand over the country’s command to “magic and superstition.” He went on to say that if Bushra Bibi had fallen into the hands of a hostile country, “serious national security risks could have emerged.”
The minister reiterated that then-ISI chief **Gen Asim Munir had documented Bushra Bibi’s alleged activities** and submitted them to Imran Khan, which reportedly led to Gen Munir’s removal. He added that PTI supporters once considered Imran Khan “highly intelligent,” yet “one woman sold him out,” claiming the PTI founder would get “tips” from illicit funds while “Gogi took the rest abroad.”
The controversy follows a detailed report published by **The Economist**, outlining Bushra Bibi’s extensive influence over Imran Khan’s personal and political decisions. The report also described unusual rituals allegedly carried out at Bani Gala after her arrival—such as sacrificing black goats and chickens, throwing their heads in cemeteries, rotating raw meat over Imran Khan’s head, and burning red chillies.
