Terrorism on the Rise Since Taliban Took Power in Afghanistan, Says Foreign Office

Islamabad: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (FO) of Pakistan has stated that terrorism has increased in the region since the Afghan Taliban assumed power and expressed hope that the Taliban will take action against Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) elements operating from Afghanistan.

During a weekly briefing in Islamabad, FO spokesperson Tahir Hussain Andarabi said that terrorist activities have escalated under the Afghan regime. Pakistan has exercised restraint, but those supporting terrorists should not expect any leniency.

He added that while Pakistan appreciates the efforts of friendly countries to facilitate dialogue with the Afghan Taliban, it is clear that Pakistan will not engage in negotiations with any terrorist group.

Spokesperson Andarabi emphasized that active terrorist networks in Pakistan consist of various extremist groups, and expressed hope that the Afghan Taliban will act against TTP operatives present in their territory.
