PPP Leader Shazia Marri Affirms No Compromise on 18th Amendment Amid 27th Amendment Discussions

Karachi:Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Shazia Marri** has emphasized that the **18th Constitutional Amendment is very close to the hearts of the provinces** and **cannot be compromised under any circumstances**.
Speaking on **Geo Pakistan**, she said that while there has been speculation regarding the **27th Amendment**, the government had formally approached the PPP seeking support for the proposed changes.
Shazia Marri stated that the **PPP has achieved consensus on provincial powers** and that **rolling back any authority granted under the 18th Amendment is neither appropriate nor feasible**. She reiterated that the **18th Amendment holds immense significance for the provinces**.
Regarding the 27th Amendment, she said the government’s proposal would be **placed before the PPP’s Central Executive Committee (CEC)**, where decisions will be made collectively.
She further added that the PPP would **discuss public issues with the PML-N** and evaluate the proposed amendment from the **perspective of public interest**, insisting that the party would maintain its **principled stance**. Any agreement would require **mutual understanding with the government** on specific points.
