Federal Government Prepares 27th Constitutional Amendment to Legalize the Rank of Field Marshal

**Islamabad (Qudrat Daily)** — The **federal government** has begun preparations for the **27th Constitutional Amendment**, which aims to amend **Article 243** of the Constitution to formally recognize and constitutionalize the **rank of Field Marshal** granted to the Chief of Army Staff.
According to the proposed amendment, several key reforms are under consideration, including the **establishment of constitutional courts**, the **delegation of executive magistrate powers at the district level**, and the **introduction of a unified national curriculum** across Pakistan.
Minister of State for Law **Barrister Aqeel Malik** confirmed that discussions regarding the 27th Amendment are underway, though formal drafting has not yet begun. He explained that the amendment to Article 243 is intended to give **constitutional protection** to the **Field Marshal title** conferred upon the Army Chief following the successful completion of **Operation Marg Bar Fitna** and **Operation Bunyān al-Marsūs**.
Meanwhile, **Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari** revealed that **Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif** has requested his party’s support for the proposed **27th Amendment**. Bilawal said that the amendment includes provisions related to **constitutional courts**, **executive magistrates**, and **judicial transfers**, as well as changes affecting **provincial shares in the NFC Award**.
He further added that the proposals also include amendments to **Article 243**, and the **transfer of education and population planning** subjects back to the **federal government**.
