Quetta Turns into a ‘City of Crises’: Gas, Electricity, Internet, and Water Scarce Amid Harsh Winter

**Quetta (Qudrat Daily)** — The provincial capital of **Balochistan, Quetta**, has effectively turned into a **“City of Crises”** due to persistent government negligence, as citizens continue to suffer from **severe shortages of gas, electricity, internet, and clean water**.

With temperatures dropping, residents are facing **repeated gas outages**, particularly during night hours, leaving them unable to use geysers. Many have been forced to **heat water with firewood**, lamenting that despite claims of modernization and billions spent on development, they are being pushed back to **“a life from a hundred years ago.”**

Adding to the misery, **long hours of electricity load-shedding** and **gas cuts every three hours** have made daily life unbearable. Internet services — vital for education, business, and communication — have also deteriorated drastically, with **mobile data speeds dropping to zero** and **Wi-Fi disconnecting every couple of hours**.

Frustrated citizens have condemned the **indifference of the ruling authorities**, accusing them of **focusing on filling their pockets and preparing for upcoming elections** rather than addressing the plight of the people.

Public representatives and social groups have **urged the Chief Justice of Balochistan** to take **suo motu notice** of the deteriorating situation and summon the **Managing Director of the gas company**, the **Chief Executive of QESCO**, and the **heads of major mobile networks** to explain why, despite collecting huge amounts of money from consumers, their services remain **grossly inadequate**.

Residents warn that if the situation persists, **Quetta’s citizens may take to the streets** in protest against what they describe as **“systemic neglect and exploitation.”**
