Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz Announces Monthly Stipend for 65,000 Mosque Imams Across the Province

Lahore: For the first time in Pakistan’s history, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has decided to introduce a monthly stipend for **65,000 mosque imams** across the province.
CM Maryam Nawaz said that *“the imam of a mosque is a highly respected figure in society. It is inappropriate for local communities to collect donations to pay their imam.”* She emphasized that the **Punjab government will provide financial assistance** to imams to support their basic needs and ensure dignity in their service.
The decision was made during the **fifth consecutive meeting on law and order**, chaired by the Chief Minister. The meeting also approved the inclusion of **mosque construction and renovation projects** in the Annual Development Program (ADP).
Additionally, an **Anti-Cybercrime Cell** will be established in Punjab, and strict action will be taken against the **illegal use of loudspeakers** in places of worship.
Maryam Nawaz reiterated her commitment to promoting religious harmony and improving the welfare of clerics who play a vital role in maintaining peace and guiding communities.
