Islamic Nations Condemn Israel’s Controversial Laws on Occupied West Bank, Call Them a Violation of International Law

Islamabad: Islamic countries, including Pakistan, have **strongly condemned Israel’s approval of two controversial draft laws** concerning the **occupied West Bank**, describing them as a **blatant violation of international law and UN Security Council resolutions**, particularly **Resolution 2334**.

According to a joint statement, the purpose of these disputed laws is to **impose so-called “Israeli sovereignty”** over the occupied West Bank and to **legalize illegal settlements**, actions that have been repeatedly rejected by the international community.

The statement further noted that these measures represent a **clear attempt to alter the demographic and legal status** of the **occupied Palestinian territories since 1967**, including **East Jerusalem**, which remains recognized as occupied territory under international law.

Referring to the **recent advisory opinion by the International Court of Justice (ICJ)** issued on **October 22, 2025**, the Islamic nations welcomed the Court’s finding that Israel’s occupation is **unlawful**, and that all settlement and annexation activities in the West Bank are **null and void**. The ICJ also emphasized that **Israel must ensure the provision of essential humanitarian needs** in the occupied territories, including **Gaza**, and **must not obstruct UN and UNRWA relief operations**. The Court reaffirmed that **starvation as a weapon is a violation of international law** and reiterated the **Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and an independent state**.

Signatories to the joint declaration include **Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Indonesia, Pakistan, Türkiye, Djibouti, Oman, The Gambia, Palestine, Qatar, Kuwait, Libya, Malaysia, Egypt, Nigeria**, as well as the **Arab League** and the **Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC)**.

The statement warned that Israel’s **unilateral and illegal actions** pose a **serious threat to regional and global peace**. It urged the **international community to fulfill its legal and moral obligations**, to **compel Israel to halt its violations**, and to **support the establishment of an independent Palestinian state** based on the **June 4, 1967 borders**, with **East Jerusalem as its capital**.

The declaration concluded by stating that this remains **the only viable path toward a just and lasting peace** in the region.
