Comedian Barkat Ali Reveals Why He Hasn’t Married Yet

KARACHI: Renowned Pakistani comedian **Barkat Ali** has opened up about the reason behind his decision to remain unmarried, revealing that he chose not to marry in order to **care for his ailing mother**.
During a recent appearance on a private TV show, Barkat Ali discussed various aspects of his life and spoke emotionally about his family.
Responding to a question about his marital status, he said, “I decided not to marry because I wanted to look after my mother. I regret that I couldn’t do much for my father, who passed away from cancer when I was just 14 years old. Now, I don’t want to have the same regrets about my mother.”
The comedian shared that his mother has been bedridden for **the past 20 years**, suffers from **diabetes**, has undergone **dialysis**, and has a **stent placed**. “Her condition is very delicate — it’s like being stuck between a rock and a hard place,” he said.
Barkat Ali added, “I’ve hired two helpers to assist her. She recently fell, but thankfully, she wasn’t seriously hurt. I spend most of my time with her — something my friends often complain about — but I want to make sure I don’t have any regrets later in life.”
He also shared a light-hearted moment from their conversations: “My mother sometimes tells me to get married, but I jokingly tell her that if I do, I’ll get busy with my wife — then who will take care of you? She laughs and says, ‘Then don’t get married.’”
