Maryam Mohammed Becomes First Emirati Woman to Compete in Miss Universe 2025

Bangkok: For the first time in the history of the **United Arab Emirates**, a native Emirati woman, **Maryam Mohammed**, will represent the country at the **Miss Universe 2025** pageant, set to take place in **Thailand next month**.
### **Education and Social Work**
Maryam Mohammed holds a **Bachelor’s degree in Economics** from the **University of Sydney, Australia**, and is currently pursuing studies in **Fashion Design** at the **Esmod Institute in Dubai**.
Beyond academics, Maryam has been actively involved in **philanthropic initiatives** and has represented the UAE in several **international women’s business and empowerment programs**, earning recognition for her leadership and community service.
### **UAE’s Miss Universe Journey**
The UAE made its Miss Universe debut in **2024**, when **Amelia Dobreva**, a model of Kosovar origin who had long resided in Dubai, represented the country. However, she was not of Emirati descent.
In contrast, **Maryam Mohammed’s participation in 2025 marks the first time a UAE-born Emirati woman** will officially represent her nation on the global stage.

The **Miss Universe 2025 pageant** will be held in **Thailand in November**, featuring contestants from more than **130 countries**.
