PTI Finalizes Opposition Leaders: Mahmood Khan Achakzai for National Assembly, Raja Nasir Abbas for Senate

Islamabad: Following directives from party founder **Imran Khan** and the removal of legal hurdles by the **Peshawar High Court**, the **Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)** has finalized the names for **Opposition Leaders** in both the **National Assembly** and the **Senate**.
According to party sources, the **PTI Parliamentary Committee** has unanimously approved **Mehmood Khan Achakzai**, chief of the **Pashtoonkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP)**, as Leader of the Opposition in the **National Assembly**, and **Allama Raja Nasir Abbas**, head of the **Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM)**, as Opposition Leader in the **Senate**.
Both names will be formally submitted to the **National Assembly Secretariat** and **Senate Secretariat** tomorrow (Tuesday).
This development follows the **Peshawar High Court’s decision** to withdraw a stay order related to the disqualification of former opposition leaders **Umar Ayub** and **Shibli Faraz**, who had been de-notified by the **Election Commission** after convictions in the **May 9 cases**. Their removal had left both opposition leader positions vacant.
The final approval for the new appointments was given by **Imran Khan** from **Adiala Jail**, after which the parliamentary body ratified the decision.
**Mahmood Khan Achakzai** currently heads the opposition alliance **Tehreek Tahafuz-e-Aeen-e-Pakistan**, while **Allama Raja Nasir Abbas’s MWM** is also a key partner in the same coalition — signaling PTI’s strategic intent to strengthen coordination among opposition parties within Parliament.
