Lawyer Throws Shoe at Indian Chief Justice During Supreme Court Hearing

New Delhi: A shocking incident occurred in the **Supreme Court of India** on Monday when a **lawyer hurled a shoe at Chief Justice B.R. Gavai** during court proceedings.
According to Indian media reports, **Chief Justice Gavai had just begun hearing the day’s first case** when a **71-year-old lawyer suddenly started shouting slogans** and threw his shoe toward the Chief Justice.
Security personnel **immediately intervened** and detained the accused. Police later identified the lawyer as **Rakesh Kishore**, a resident of **Mayur Vihar** and a **registered member of the Supreme Court Bar Association**.
Officials said the incident took place around **11:35 a.m. in Courtroom No. 1**, where the lawyer removed his shoe and flung it at the Chief Justice.
A senior police officer confirmed that the man was **promptly apprehended and handed over to the Supreme Court’s security unit** for further questioning.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the lawyer was **upset over recent remarks made by the Chief Justice** during a hearing related to the **Khajuraho Temple case in Madhya Pradesh**.
Chief Justice Gavai, maintaining composure, **chose not to react** and instructed other lawyers to **continue with the proceedings as normal**.
