Government and Awami Action Committee Reach Agreement in Azad Kashmir

MUZAFFARABAD: The government’s negotiation committee and the Awami Action Committee have reached an agreement, bringing an end to the recent unrest in Azad Kashmir.

In a joint press conference held in Muzaffarabad, Prime Minister’s Adviser and member of the government’s negotiation team, Rana Sanaullah, announced that the matter had been resolved amicably and the legitimate demands of the Awami Action Committee had been accepted. He further said that a *Legal Action Committee* has been formed to monitor implementation, which will convene every 15 days.

Senior PPP leader Raja Pervaiz Ashraf remarked that certain elements were hoping for chaos, but their plans had failed. He emphasized that maintaining peace in Kashmir is a collective responsibility, and now there is no need for protests on the streets as all issues can be brought before the committee.

Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal hailed the agreement as a victory for Pakistan, Azad Kashmir, and democracy. In a message prior to the press conference, he stated that recent weeks had been challenging due to public grievances, but the wisdom of both local and national leadership ensured a peaceful resolution. “No violence erupted, no division occurred—mutual respect paved the way forward,” he said.

He added that the government under Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif listened to the voice of the people with seriousness, proving that constructive dialogue leads to solutions. “We chose consultation over confrontation, and unity over ego,” Ahsan Iqbal said, vowing to work together for better governance and development in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

Federal Minister Tariq Fazal Chaudhry confirmed that the final agreement had been signed and declared it a “victory for peace.” He also announced that demonstrators were returning home and all blocked roads had been reopened.

**Key Points of the Agreement:**
