BNP (Awami) Voices Support for Peaceful Protest in Khuzdar, Demands Local Rights Over Natural Resources

Khuzdar:The **Balochistan National Party (Awami)** has stressed that any policy or decision regarding Balochistan’s mineral and natural resources must ensure the **inclusion of local communities and recognition of their constitutional rights**, terming it a prerequisite for lasting political stability.
In a statement issued by the party’s central spokesperson, the BNP (Awami) expressed full support for the **peaceful protest and long march announced by the Tehreek-e-Difa Ferozabad**. The spokesperson said the movement reflects a **democratic call for economic participation, empowerment, and access to basic facilities**, which the party not only respects but fully endorses.
The statement criticized **Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL)** and its subsidiary **Bolan Mining Enterprise (BME)** for reaping profits from Ferozabad’s mineral resources for decades while the **local population continues to be deprived of basic necessities** such as healthcare, education, clean water, and employment.
“This model of development is incompatible with the principles of public participation,” the spokesperson said, pointing to **Articles 25, 9, and 38 of the Constitution of Pakistan**, which guarantee equality, economic protection, and fundamental rights for all citizens.
The BNP (Awami) reaffirmed that **peaceful protest and long marches are constitutional and democratic rights**, and underscored that its political struggle is not driven by power or office but by the **collective interests of the people**.
“On these principles, we stand firmly with the constitutional and peaceful public struggle from Ferozabad to Quetta,” the statement concluded.
