Khyber Pakhtunkhwa CM Says Efforts Underway to Sow Discord in PTI After Jail Meeting with Imran Khan

Peshawar/Rawalpindi — Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister **Ali Amin Gandapur** said on Sunday that attempts are being made to create divisions within Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) instead of taking concrete steps for the release of the party’s founder, **Imran Khan**.

Gandapur made the remarks after meeting Imran Khan at **Adiala Jail**. In a video message released following the visit, the chief minister accused certain elements of stoking internal disagreements and running campaigns that undermine party unity.

Key points from Gandapur’s statement:

* He alleged that **vloggers and online campaigners** are amplifying factionalism inside PTI, and claimed that **Alima Khan** (as named in his remarks) has been supporting those vloggers rather than restraining them.
* Gandapur said journalist **Hafizullah Niazi** is writing articles promoting the idea of making Alima Khan the party’s **chairperson**, a move he portrayed as part of an organised campaign to reshape internal leadership.
* He warned that **grouping and factional activity** for personal gain is harming the party and stressed that he had informed Imran Khan of these developments during their meeting.
* The chief minister also said he explained to Imran Khan that legal and parliamentary realities — including the need to pass the budget — limited immediate options. He noted that had the provincial government failed to present the budget, the administration could have been legally disqualified and the government toppled.

Gandapur framed his visit as an effort to brief the PTI founder about the political dynamics within the party and the constraints facing provincial governments. He reiterated the importance of party unity and warned against actions that could weaken PTI at a critical time.
