Asia Cup Final: Indian Media Expresses Concerns Ahead of Clash with Pakistan

Dubai: Ahead of the Asia Cup 2025 final against Pakistan, Indian media has raised concerns over the team’s performance despite their dramatic Super Over win against Sri Lanka in the Super Four stage.

Commentators pointed out that India’s inability to defend 202 runs — with Sri Lanka matching the total — was a wake-up call. “At one stage, Sri Lanka had practically won the game, and that cannot be ignored,” Indian outlets reported.

Looking ahead to the final, the media stressed that the team must play with full intensity against Pakistan, setting aside earlier encounters on September 14 and September 21. “The September 28 match is different — it’s the final against Pakistan,” analysts warned.

Drawing parallels to the 2017 Champions Trophy, Indian media cautioned the team not to repeat past mistakes. “Back then, India crushed Pakistan in the group stage but took the final lightly — and the result is still remembered,” reports noted.

Media voices emphasized that while India should take confidence from victories, they must also learn from mistakes to avoid a repeat of the Champions Trophy final.
