Saima Qureshi Sparks Debate with Claim: “95% of Men Want a Second Marriage”

Islamabad: Veteran Pakistani actress Saima Qureshi has stirred a heated debate on social media after claiming that “95% of men want to get married a second time.” Her remarks, made during a recent podcast with Adnan Faisal, have sharply divided opinions online.

Many women expressed anger over the statement, questioning, “If men only want second marriages, what is the fault of the first wife?” Others criticized Qureshi, asking, “Which century is she living in?” Meanwhile, several men supported her comments, calling them an “honest reality.”

During the podcast, Qureshi argued that if men strongly desire another marriage, they should avoid forbidden relationships and instead marry according to Islamic principles. “A man’s wrong choice can impact generations. It’s better to take the lawful path than to indulge in sin,” she said.

She further emphasized that men should take their first wives into confidence if they wish to remarry. “In today’s time, illicit relationships are easy to form, while nikah faces unnecessary obstacles. The truth is, 95% of men do think about a second marriage. Some women even permit their husbands to do so,” she added.

The actress’s bold statement quickly spread across social media, sparking intense arguments. While some users supported her stance as “factual,” many women condemned it, warning that such comments could encourage men to misuse religion as an excuse.

As the debate grows louder, Saima Qureshi’s remarks have reignited long-standing discussions around marriage, fidelity, and societal expectations in Pakistan.
