Suspension of Mines and Minerals Act a Victory for Political Workers: Lashkari Raisani

Quetta:Senior politician and former Senator **Nawabzada Haji Mir Lashkari Khan Raisani** has hailed the suspension of the **Mines and Minerals Act** through an executive order as a *victory for political workers*. He announced that opposition members will present a resolution during the **September 26 session of the Balochistan Assembly** to review the Act and address widespread concerns.
Speaking to a private TV channel, Raisani said the **Mines and Minerals Act, passed on March 12, 2025**, was thoroughly examined by his core committee and senior legal experts, who concluded that the legislation went against the interests of Balochistan. “Since I was not in the assembly and do not pursue politics for its perks, I took the matter to court, inviting other political parties to challenge the Act and fight for Balochistan’s rights through a democratic and parliamentary path,” he stated.
He added that during a recent meeting chaired by the Leader of the Opposition, a **parliamentary committee** was formed to negotiate with the Chief Minister regarding the suspension and review of the Act. Following that, the government issued a notification suspending the Act via executive order.
Raisani further said that once the resolution is passed, a **reform committee** will be established to recommend necessary amendments, removing unconstitutional and “ill-intentioned clauses.” He stressed that the movement is aimed at protecting the future of Balochistan’s youth and ensuring their peaceful tomorrow through parliamentary means.
“We, the opposition and the government, stand at the bar of history. We are part of this political process to secure the interests of our province and future generations,” Raisani concluded.
